Neurodivergence in the School Context
Strategies to support students with learning difficulties.
On February 4, 2026, Dr. Filipe Fernandes led a training session for teachers and educators from the pedagogical groups of Portimão and Monchique.
The training took place at the Professor José Buísel School.
Meetings of the Order of Psychologists
The Southern Regional Delegation organized another edition of the "Tertúlias a Sul" initiative on December 12, 2025, at the Portimão Municipal Library, with the theme "Learning difficulties: Challenges, evidence and intervention".
The initiative aimed to clarify the concept of learning difficulties; identify warning signs (behavioral, academic and neuropsychological indicators);
To understand the types of assessment (psychological, psycho-pedagogical, and neuropsychological), including adaptations for bilingual children or children in a second language context; and to distinguish between different diagnoses and explore intervention models.
Training on Developmental and Learning Disorders, Portimão Municipal Library
Last Wednesday, November 27, 2024, a training session on Developmental and Learning Disorders was held, taught by Dr. Filipe Fernandes.
The training session was attended by teachers and specialized technicians from the municipalities of Portimão and Monchique.
It was an incredible opportunity to deepen knowledge and explore strategies that contribute to academic development and success.
XIII Conference of The Comrade, Lagoa
The 13th edition of the "O Companheiro" Conference took place on October 15th at the Carlos do Carmo Auditorium in Lagoa, where Dr. Filipe Fernandes addressed the topic of the Role of Executive Functions on Behavior in Young People and Adults.
7th Algarve Autoimmunity Summit, Portimão
On September 19, 2024, Dr. Filipe Fernandes was invited by the Algarve Medical Association (AMALG) to participate in a conversation with Dr. Carlos Carneiro focused on the quality of life of patients with Axial Spondyloarthritis, an autoimmune disease.
Memory Café, Portimão
On March 9, 2024, Dr. Filipe Fernandes had the privilege of being invited by Alzheimer Portugal to speak about the role of Neuropsychology in Dementia and the role of the Neuropsychologist in the support process for both the patient and the caregiver.
The morning was filled with various activities and sharing, providing a learning context in which mutual understanding and affection stood out.
Mindfulness Action
On March 8, 2024, the Portimonense SC Under-14 Women's team participated in a Mindfulness session led by Dr. Gabriel Dionel.
During the activity, the athletes had the opportunity to develop techniques for attentional focus and emotion regulation, contributing to their performance during the games and in their personal lives.
